Ampere Labs provides a range of techno-economic assessment services for the WEM to support market participants, developers and other stakeholders.
Market Analysis
Bespoke independent analysis of the WEM that draws on quantitative data sets and deep WEM expertise. Ampere Labs also provides tailored market updates in addition to the publicly available market reports, including the impacts of regulatory reforms and developments.
Thermal Curtailment Analysis
Quantitative analysis of the WEM using a market dispatch model to provide estimates
on forecast levels of thermal curtailment / network congestion for new entrant facilities.
Transmission Loss Factor Projections
Quantitative analysis of the WEM to provide forecast projections of Transmission Loss Factors (the WEM equivalent of Marginal Loss Factors) throughout the transmission network. Projections include forecasts for all existing generation in the WEM, as well as selected new entrant facilities.
Network Access Quantity (NAQ) Assessments
Ampere Labs has developed an independent replica of AEMO’s NAQ model that is able to yield similar outcomes to the published NAQs from previous Reserve Capacity Cycles. This model can be used for future-looking NAQ assessments to screen both incumbent and new entrant projects for potential NAQ risks.
Grid Screening Assessments
High-level, early-stage grid assessments for new entrant facilities to evaluate feasibility and assist developers with facility sizing. The scope includes qualitative assessments of a proposed grid connection, supplemented and informed by power flow studies.
Grid Connection Application Support
Guide developers through the Western Power connection application process, including
supporting the preparation of a connection application, preparing self-serve steady state studies, conducting GPS studies and supporting negotiations.
